ASO tool for Mac

The ASO tool for Mac that keeps your data on your Mac

asorocket is a native Mac app for App Store Optimization: keyword rank tracking, keyword research, competitor tracking and a Metadata lab that checks and publishes your App Store and Google Play listings. It runs on Apple silicon and Intel Macs, stores everything in a database on your Mac, and keeps your App Store Connect and Apple Ads keys in the macOS Keychain.

Native builds for macOS

Apple silicon (M-series) and Intel Macs. Free to start, no account, and a 14-day trial of everything on every new install.

Installing on a Mac

Download the .dmg for your chip, open it and move asorocket into your Applications folder. The first launch starts the guided setup: pick your storefronts, find your app, keep the competitors asorocket suggests and tick a few keywords. There is no account to create and nothing to sign in to.

Not sure which build you need? Open the Apple menu and choose About This Mac: a chip named Apple M1 or later is Apple silicon, anything else is Intel. The Apple silicon build is the faster one on an M-series Mac, since nothing is translated.

Updates on a Mac

Updates arrive in the background and install on restart, the same way on every system (how updates work). On a Mac each update is the build for your chip, so an Apple silicon Mac never picks up an Intel build or needs Rosetta, and the .dmg you installed from is never needed again. The download links on this page always point at the newest release.

Where your data lives on a Mac

Everything asorocket collects, rankings, charts, reviews, research runs and drafts, is one SQLite database in the app’s data folder on your Mac. Nothing is uploaded to asorocket; there is no asorocket cloud to upload to. Settings opens the folder and saves a backup.

Keys for App Store Connect, Apple Ads, Google Play Console and the revenue, attribution and analytics services you connect are encrypted with the macOS Keychain, left out of backups and never synced. Time Machine copies the database like any other file, which is a backup of your tracking history too.

Menu bar, login items and your Mac’s sleep

The daily refresh runs while asorocket is open, window or not. Turn on Open at login in Settings › Data refresh and it starts with your Mac, refreshes your apps and keywords, sends alerts and makes scheduled reports without opening a window.

Quit in the middle of a bulk research run of up to 1,000 keywords and asorocket keeps working from the menu bar, then quits by itself when the run is done. A Mac that is asleep collects nothing; the refresh runs when it wakes.

What a desktop app does for ASO on macOS

Three things a website cannot do from a browser tab: run a 1,000-keyword research job from the menu bar while you work, answer Claude Desktop on your Mac over a local socket, and share a setup with your other computers through iCloud Drive.

Questions about asorocket on macOS

Does asorocket run natively on Apple silicon?

Yes. There are two builds: one for Apple silicon, one for Intel. Pick the one that matches your Mac, so the app runs without Rosetta.

Can I use asorocket on my Mac and my Windows PC?

Yes. A Pro licence works on one computer and a Studio licence on three, in any mix of macOS, Windows and Linux. With Studio you can sync your setup between them through iCloud Drive or Dropbox; each computer collects its own figures.

Does it work with Claude Desktop on my Mac?

Yes. asorocket includes an MCP server with 29 tools; Settings › AI assistants shows the configuration to paste into Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code or Windsurf. The assistant talks to the app over a local socket on your Mac.

Other Mac ASO apps

Several ASO tools run as a Mac app; most run in the browser. The comparison pages put asorocket next to each of them, with prices from their own pricing pages.
